This 4-day summer experience will run Monday through Thursday. Teachers will explore critical components of their own classroom instruction in terms of what works and what is challenging in the physical setting and what works and what is challenging in the virtual setting. They will explore and adopt whatever new structures and strategies meet their needs in the areas of:
Student engagement
Content delivery
Executive function
Social and emotional learning
Assessment
A more in-depth look at the content may be found on the page, More About Our Hybrid Learning Environment.
Logistics
The summer PD is conducted remotely during 4 days, with teachers expected to be online and engaged in activities from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM (times may be shifted earlier or later to meet the needs of the district.)
One consultant will be available to teachers at all times, though a team of consultants may be used to take advantage of the varied expertise we can provide to a group when providing PD remotely.
One consultant will be assigned to facilitate the workshop for every 20 teachers involved
Cost
$7820 for a four-day workshop for up to 20 participants
The Virtual Learning Community (VLC) is an online course in which participants engage with consultants and educators from other schools and districts. VLCs are powered by a website where the participants access videos and resources, sign up for group video sessions, and sign up for one-on-one video sessions. The consultant engages with participants through video as well as by weighing in on their cloud-based assignments.
The VLC on hybrid learning includes the same content as the four-day course.
Logistics
Summer VLCs are conducted over the course of 2 weeks; school-year VLCs are conducted over the course of 5 weeks.
Each VLC requires approximately 25-hours of participant engagement.
Each VLC begins with a task statement that requires the teacher to develop a product, typically resources they will use with their students in class; each includes a rubric to offer clearly articulated expectations for that product and for engagement.
Consultants are available through "office hours" to support participants.
Cost
$495 per teacher when purchasing 10 or more seats; $450 per teacher when purchasing 100 or more seats
All of our professional development relies on the resources of our online instructional resource, MyQPortal. ("Q" is short for the word quiddity, which means "your essence or your whatness." MyQPortal includes hundreds of problem-based tasks with unit materials and hundreds of instructional planning tools. Our collection of hybrid learning tools is growing daily. Many of the tools teachers can use with students (such as, the Great Hybrid Learner Rubric) are also translated into Spanish.
Cost
$995 per school
As of mid August, we will be offering an online course that participants can navigate on their own. Through a collection of videos, e-texts, assignments with answer keys, and other options, participants will explore designing hybrid learning environments on their own. The content is the same that is offered in the four-day workshop and the VLC. No consultants are available in these courses, though we will schedule webinars for those who are interested in attending at given times.
Cost
$145 per teacher

The district might benefit from a combination of options, including:
An August four-day workshop for interested teachers who will serve as "peer experts" for others in the future
August VLCs for any teachers who are interested in preparing in advance for the fall
An opening of school keynote by Dr. Nancy Sulla
A one- to two-day experience at the opening of school to engage all teachers in some of the topics, using the "peer experts" to allow for a greater participant-to-consultant ratio. With four willing and able peer experts joining one consultant, you could conduct the opening-of-school training with 100 teachers to a group. This would require one-day advance session for those "peer experts" to coordinate with one of our consultants to learn how the workshop will be conducted and what their roles would be.
The online, self-paced course available to all teachers as the school year launches
Ongoing consultant coaching offering the one-hour, topical PD sessions outlined in the Remote Learning Section for groups of up to 25 teachers, and individual or small-group coaching sessions to help teachers develop hybrid lesson plans
